Chorus Rehearsals have begun! Any aspiring vocalists, or even shower stars, are welcome to join our chorus. Rehearsals are Sundays 1:30 to 3:00 PM in the social hall of First Baptist Church on the corner of Steubenville Ave and E 8th St
Greetings Performers, Please join us in being Knights for Sight by volunteering your valuable time and vocal talents to raise money for the Cambridge Lions Club’s vision projects. Our goal is the prevention of blindness, and assisting sight impaired individuals in Guernsey County. It is time to prepare for the 38th annual Cambridge Lions Club Music and Comedy Show. This is our largest fund raiser of the year and is scheduled for March 24th, 25th, and 26th of 2011. The theme this year will be, “Fall in Love with the Cambridge Lions”. We are currently looking for feature performers. Auditions will be held Monday November 22nd beginning at 7:00 PM. All performers will be required to provide an accompaniment CD or mp3 for this audition. We can arrange to have the lead vocal lines removed from most recordings with advance notice at least two weeks prior to audition. Auditions will be performed at the First Baptist Church, 136 E 8th St, in the sanctuary with live microphones. Please contact Ben Cahoon to arrange an audition time. As always feature auditions are open to anyone wishing to sing as a soloist, duo, or group. We are looking for songs that cover all the emotions that “Love” evokes and not just slow ballads. We want to focus on up tempo songs that will keep the audience entertained. Try to keep your selection to around three minutes in order to keep the show moving. If you have trouble choosing a song or wonder if it fits the theme please contact the director. It is important to note that the song you audition will be the song you sing in the show. Once again our judges will be from the Warsaw Lions Club Minstrel Show. This panel will be focusing on performance, stage presence, and song selection. They will have the final decision on whether or not a song fits the theme. All featured performers chosen for the show will be required to attend a meeting, mid-December, with music arranger Jim Bock, to discuss key changes and arrangement issues. You will be required to provide a copy of your selected song’s piano arrangement, in your chosen key if available, to Jim at this time. We can assist with obtaining the arrangement if requested. Be prepared to sing through the song at this time in order for Jim to understand what you are looking for. As a featured performer you will also be expected to participate in the chorus and attend rehearsals every Sunday from 1:30 to 3:00 beginning January 23rd, 2011. Thanks for offering your valuable time and talent to the worthwhile cause of blindness prevention. Ben Cahoon
