Gary Williams, author of the book Historic Tours of Ohio was the guest speaker. He informed the club of several interesting facts about Ohio including the fact that Ohio was the first state settled by legal, free settlers of the new American and started the western movement. Local historical tourism is on a rise due to gas prices and high cost of travel. There are over 100 historical sites in Ohio. His book is a field guide for planning a trip. The chapters include the following Ohio subjects: Indian mounds, battlefields and forts, Underground Railroad sites, civil war generals, Presidents, authors, scientists, inventors, and a montage of other facts about transportation, outdoor dramas, and homes. Gary has written other books including Gliding to a Better Place, Forts of Ohio, and Spies, Scoundrels & Rouges of the Ohio Frontier. Pictured are Gary Williams, left, and Progam Chair Terry Losego.
